About Us

Most of what we think about at Kromzen fits in a chest pocket. We are an online store at https://kromzen.com for men's overshirts and flannel button-up shirts, the layers a man puts on over a tee on the mornings when a coat stays on its hook.

The Pocket Gets Patted First

Before anyone checks the weather, a hand goes to the chest. Keys on the left, a card wallet on the right, the badge that opens the office door in whichever pocket has room. The pat at the door is how a man finds out whether an overshirt is doing its job, and it happens a dozen times a day without a thought.

That pat is where our buying starts. An overshirt that gets listed here has two chest pockets deep enough to swallow a set of keys or a card wallet standing on its end, with flaps that stay closed when the wearer bends down to tie a shoe. A flannel that gets listed here has a single open pocket set where a hand lands naturally, sized for the one thing a person reaches for most, whether that is a pen, a pair of reading glasses or a folded list.

We settled on the pocket as the first check because it is the part of a shirt that fails quietly. A pocket an inch too shallow does not look wrong in a photograph. It looks wrong on the second day, when a set of keys tips out onto the car seat. Fabric, color and collar shape all matter, and all of them are easier to judge from a picture than a pocket is, so the pocket is what gets measured before anything else.

A Brushed Shirt Under a Heavier One

The flannel is a cotton shirt brushed on the face so the surface lifts into a soft nap. It buttons to the collar, carries one chest pocket, and is cut to be worn on its own over a tee or buttoned under the overshirt with the collar folded out. Patterns run to plaids and solids in colors that sit quietly against denim and chinos.

The overshirt is the heavier of the two: a dense cotton twill or a wool-blend cloth, cut roomier through the chest and upper arm so a flannel fits underneath without the sleeves binding at the elbow. It closes with buttons rather than a zipper, carries two flap pockets on the chest, and runs long enough at the hem to cover the back pockets of a pair of jeans. Worn open, it is a jacket. Buttoned to the top, it is a shirt with structure.

Both come in letter sizes from S through XXL. Each listing states flat measurements for the chest, body length, sleeve and pocket depth, taken from the garment itself, so a buyer can lay a shirt he already owns on the bed and compare the numbers before ordering.

What a Listing States Before It Goes Live

Each listing is written from the garment's own care label: fiber content as printed, the fabric weight where the supplier states it, and the wash instruction word for word. A 60/40 blend is listed as a 60/40 blend, and a brushed polyester is not called flannel.

Pocket depth and width are measured flat with a tape and written into the listing next to the chest and body length. Where a standard card wallet will not stand in the pocket with the flap closed, the listing says so rather than leaving the buyer to find out.

Product photographs come from the supplier's studio set. Before a listing is published we check them against the item in hand for color, button count and pocket placement, and we hold back any photo that does not match what will ship. Returns that come back unworn with tags attached go back into stock; anything that shows wear does not get resold.
